Byron thanks for the info about nosodes. I didn't realize they weren't considered a vaccine by law. I just started reading about them and know little yet.

Why though would you give charcoal to a dog unless there is toxic poisoning? thinking Though I remember my psych professor telling us that some Chinese cultures cleanse their colons with charcoal so their gas does not smell!!

Chloe, sounds perfecto! I am aghast that they pulled charcoal off the market!!! Because someone could use it dishonestly, its benefits are forbidden to everyone else??? It's a crazy world. My doc couldn't treat my hub's leg cramps with quinine, a very common practice, because quinine is "supposed" to be prescribed for malaria. So many doctors were treating leg cramps for it that the government pulled it off the market too.

Of course alcohol and cigarettes are legal. I certainly don't recommend criminalizing them, but come on, charcoal compared to them?

End rant.

Jessica, it's to help detoxify. Now that word is bandied about way too much and I therefore tend to distrust products that claim it big grin - but charcoal's been proven safe and effective as far as I know. I also give Byron edible bentonite clay for the same reason, and to supplement minerals. Of course he's such a general mess that I can't tell if it makes a difference or not.

Hi Chloe. If you are searching for a good vet in Calgary try Dr. Ron Torrance. I think its TransCanada Vet. He's on 4st NW. He is in it for the animals, not the money. Wiley was having elbow probs, and Dr Ron saw him 4 times & did xrays, etc. He only charged me for the first visit because "you came for answers & I don't have one yet!" He is also the vet used on "End of my Leash" TV show. Wiley liked him so much he was pulling on the leash to get in the clinic! Also Dr. Kevin at Glamorgan vets in the SW is also fantastic. Hope you feel better soon cutie.

Hey Wiley!! I'm planning to go to Dr.Torrance =] I've heard nothing but amazing things from him, over half my family go to him and ALOT of people on the internet! My appointment was cancelled cause the person who does bloodwork got sick =[ I'm going to reschedual for next week I hope =]

As for Dr.Kevin, I don't like him one bit! He's a good vet and we went to him for years, but he misdiagnosed my one dog and he said the only humane thing to do is put her down, She had some virus that was going around the area, he didn't get the 'memo' in time and thought it was something else...
enidibly we put her down when the solution would have been a vaccine. Needless to say, i'm not happy with him right now. If you mentioned the Glanmorgan clinic, you must live over by me wave

this happened to sumo when he was young.
he ate fast, and then gobbled down about
half of shooters food and drank a lot of water-
it looked like he swallowed a bowling ball.
i was SO WORRIED.
but he was acting normal otherwise.
he had some soft poop and tons of gas
and in the A.M. he was completely deflated.
haha.
