For most dogs, cooked rice, whether white or brown, is highly digestible. White rice is somewhat more digestible than brown, but for most dogs, neither is a problem.

HOWEVER, nothing works for everyone, and if you are sure the rice was properly cooked, I'd try it once more, see how it goes, and decide based on that whether you want to continue using it.

Rice does not work for every dog. Alternatives to brown rice might be white rice, potato, sweet potato, barley, oats.

I would add more water and make it a real mushy rice or switch to white rice. We eat white rice and even that, mom makes is real mushy before we would eat it. big grin

Hi Nate, this has happened to Quigley too and the rice seems to come out the same as it went in. I found this happens with brown rice mainly. I cook it for longer to make it mushier and he is normally fine.dog

Overcooked white rice - add more water, then when he adjusts to that, you can add part brown - same deal - overcook it with extra water.

In addition to the suggestions above you could grind it up in a blender or food processor, this usually helps dogs digest vegetable matter better as well.
