Mostly common sense.

Who eats apple seeds? Nuts are fine as far as I know only fed peanut butter to my dogs, phosphorus isn't that big a deal but would have to be in a butter for dogs to get anything from them. Liver is fine in moderate amounts, just don't eat arctic animal liver. Less than an ounce of polar bear liver will kill a grown man! You don't eat rhubarb, potato or tomato leaves, don't give them to the dog. Broccoli is fine in small amounts, just don't base the diet on broccoli. If you won't eat wild mushrooms don't feed them to the dog. And a dog could be allergic to anything, small amounts of new foods at first and watch for upsets.

Feed the same foods as you eat MINUS onions/garlic/leeks, macadamia nuts, chocolate, grapes/raisins. No spoiled foods, no added salt or extra pan drippings and you will be fine.

I heard avacados from I think Mexico are okay, but not the hybrids from the states or bc, I would stay away though just in case.

Broccoli is okay, just not like a whole 'tree' of it. Just don't feed in large amounts.

Cherries are great for dogs! Jut not the seeds!!

Raw eggs are fine!! Just feed the WHOLE egg, it's the white of the egg that contains avidin which kills biotin, but an egg yolk contains so much biotin that there is no threat.

Liver is vital for your dog! just don't eat large amount or you can get a vitamin A overdose (but that's a lot of liver)

I see Pears and Peaches and Plums, They can eat all of those, just not the seeds, I really wish they would say that.. and not jsut Plum! but actually say Plum seeds.

Potatoes aren't bad but are part of the nightshade veggies, (same as tomatoes) which can inflam joints causeing or irritating arthritis

Salmon contains huge amounts of O3 O6 which are great for your dog, just make sure you freeze it at -20 celcius for a month to kill parasites.

Sorry for spelling mistakes, I just wanted to finish this list before going back to work =]

It's a good list if you actually read the detail, except for the eggs I've always fed dogs raw eggs. For example it list potatos but then goes on to say it's just the skin that has a small risk of causing a problem and that mashed potatos are good. I would add green ( as in not ripe) pears, I spent all spring picking up green pears because the dogs made themselve sick eating them. If the tree was actually on my lot instead of the neighbors I would have just cut the stupid thing down.

I agree with chloe on the eggs. Dogs in the wild are notorious oviraptors, so I don't know what people are barking about it being terrible for them. In fact, chloe is right give them the whole egg. I find that contrary to what this article says, giving the dog an egg is actually really good for their skin and coat. I know my friend's dad's German shorthaired pointers are glossyy as ever and they get all of the eggs from the chicken coop that are not needed by the humans. the article says no to apples as well, but that is silly. cut the seeds out and it is really supper good for the dog! I mean come ON do YOU eat the seeds?

I agree with the list on most things, except the eggs. A lot of what they say is common sense. However, I've been feeding all my dogs raw eggs at least one egg twice a week since I got them and none of them have had any problems. There aren't any problems with raw eggs.

Fagan loves apples, but I slice them and throw the core away, so no seeds. My Aunt killed her bunny giving it quartered apples with the seeds still in.
I feed raw eggs from time to time too, but usually just the yolks (I like egg white omlettes!).
Avacado was in the last food I was feeding, Avoderm, the oil is supposed to help the coat, but I can see where whole avacados could be dangerous.

Misty, we had a bunny named Misty. She refused to admit anything was poisonous and would eat the deadly poison oleander leaves once they were brown and dry. Was it cyanide poisoning or just too much fresh food? Aren't there only about 8 seeds in one apple? Hard to believe that would kill a rabbit. We lost 2 guinea pigs to too much fresh food, very sad.

That list makes us think about our choices and do more research. Good to do. There are so many people who just buy a bag with happy dogs on the front and scoop into a bowl. It is so easy to forget that that bottomless pit of a begging dog is a lot smaller than a grown human and feed too much human food and cause a lot of suffering.

My 2lb bunny has eaten a whole apple, seeds and all, and was perfectly fine. However I didn't give him the apple whole (my brother did) and I always make sure to cut out the core. Kit loves small slices of apple as well as whole raw eggs and liver.
