Arrival Story:
My husband and my 2 year old son went to a pot luck dinner at the SSHBEA office (Spotted Saddle Horse Breeder's and Exhibitors Assoc.) and there was also an auction. The president of SSHBEA brought along 2 puppies to sell and my husband bought this adorable puppy. J.D. was a surprise to me and a great one at that! About his name, well our 2 year old son Lance is crazy about John Deere tractors and as soon as my son picked out the puppy he wanted, he called him Twactor...lol. My husband knew right then what we would name him, John Deere but we call him J.D. for short.--Our little J.D. is no longer with us...he passed away on June 12, 2007. Read my diary entry...

This is really hard for me to type right now because we just lost J.D. This morning when I woke up, I looked out the back door and saw J.D. laying in the yard. I called for him but he didn't come so I went and checked on him. He was barely breathing and his mouth felt like it was glued shut. I immediately took him to our vet's office and they told me that he had the signs of parvo but yet he had his parvo shot previous to today. I told them to do whatever it took to save him. Before the vet ever got the IV in J.D., he took his last breath. Our vet told me that the parvo test came back negative and she told me of 2 virus's that J.D. could have had and I was in shock and can't remember what they were. She warned me to watch Flash, Sunny and Miss Bashful for vomitting and diarrhea because this might be contagious. What is so bad about this is out of all the dogs we have, J.D. was my son's favorite. Lance is only 2 years old and doesn't understand what death is and all the way home from the vet's office, he repeatedly called for J.D. I cried all the way home...and I'm still crying. We miss you J.D.!!!
